How To Seek Allah’s Pleasure? A Guide for Young Hearts

Introduction: Why Should We Seek Allah’s Pleasure?

Dear children, do you know that our purpose in life is to please Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ)? Everything we do, from praying to being kind to others, is meant to bring us closer to Him. Allah created us out of love, and in return, He wants us to live in a way that earns His pleasure. Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) says in the Qur’an:

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
(Surah Adh-Dhariyat, 51:56)

This verse shows us that our ultimate goal is to serve and please Allah. But what does it mean to seek Allah’s pleasure? It means living a life that aligns with His commands, striving to make Him happy, and avoiding anything that displeases Him. Let’s explore how we can achieve this and why it is so important.

1. Understanding Allah’s Pleasure

Allah’s pleasure means His approval of our deeds and efforts. When Allah is pleased with us, He showers us with His mercy, guides us in our lives, and promises us Jannah (Paradise) in the Hereafter.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Indeed, Allah becomes pleased with a servant who eats food and praises Him for it or drinks a drink and praises Him for it.”
(Sahih Muslim, 2734)

Even small acts, like saying Alhamdulillah after eating, can make Allah happy. Isn’t that amazing? Now imagine how much Allah loves us when we do big acts of worship or show kindness to others!

2. Worshipping Allah (Ibadah) Wholeheartedly

The most direct way to seek Allah’s pleasure is through worship. Worship isn’t just limited to Salah (prayer); it includes fasting, reciting the Qur’an, making dua (supplication), and even daily actions done with the right intention.

Allah says:

“And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:43)

Perform your prayers on time, fast during Ramadan, and give charity. These acts bring us closer to Allah and earn His immense pleasure.

3. Obeying Allah’s Commands and Avoiding Sins

To earn Allah’s pleasure, we must obey His commands and avoid sins. This includes following the halal (permissible) and avoiding the haram (forbidden).

For example:

  • Be honest in your words and actions.
  • Dress modestly.
  • Avoid lying, cheating, and gossiping.

Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) promises great rewards for those who obey Him:

“And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be admitted by Him to gardens [in Paradise] under which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein…”
(Surah An-Nisa, 4:13)

When you stay away from sins, you protect your heart from darkness and keep it pure for Allah.

4. Being Kind and Helpful to Others

Did you know that helping others is one of the best ways to earn Allah’s pleasure? Islam teaches us to care for our family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“The most beloved of people to Allah is the one who brings the most benefit to others.”
(Al-Mu’jam Al-Awsat, 5787)

Here are some simple ways to be kind:

  • Share your food with someone who is hungry.
  • Smile at people—it’s a Sunnah!
  • Help your parents with chores.
  • Say kind words to your siblings and friends.

When you show kindness, Allah becomes pleased, and you feel happy inside too.

5. Maintaining a Pure Intention (Niyyah)

Children, do you know that Allah looks at your heart and your intentions? Even if you do something small, like helping a friend, it can become a big act in Allah’s eyes if your intention is pure.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Actions are judged by intentions…”
(Sahih Bukhari, 1)

So, always ask yourself: Am I doing this to make Allah happy? If the answer is yes, then go ahead and do it with love and sincerity.

6. Remembering Allah (Dhikr) Often

One of the easiest ways to earn Allah’s pleasure is by remembering Him throughout the day. Saying phrases like SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, and La ilaha illallah brings immense rewards.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:152)

Make it a habit to do dhikr when you’re walking, sitting, or even lying down. It keeps your heart connected to Allah and strengthens your Imaan.

7. Loving and Following Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

To seek Allah’s pleasure, we must love and follow the example of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). He was the best example of how to live a life pleasing to Allah.

Allah says:

“Say, [O Muhammad], ‘If you should love Allah, then follow me, so Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.’”
(Surah Aal-e-Imran, 3:31)

Read stories of the Prophet’s life and try to follow his Sunnah, like being truthful, praying extra prayers, and being kind to animals.

8. Making Dua Regularly

Dua is a beautiful way to connect with Allah and ask for His pleasure. You can ask Allah for anything, big or small, and He will respond.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Your Lord says: Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”
(Surah Ghafir, 40:60)

Here’s a simple dua you can make:
“O Allah, guide me to do what pleases You and keep me away from what displeases You.”

9. Showing Gratitude to Allah

Gratitude (shukr) is another way to please Allah. When you thank Allah for the blessings He has given you, He becomes very pleased and gives you even more.

Allah says:

“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]…”
(Surah Ibrahim, 14:7)

Say Alhamdulillah every day for your health, family, food, and all the little things that make your life beautiful.

10. Trusting Allah (Tawakkul)

Having trust in Allah means believing that He knows what’s best for you. Even when things don’t go as planned, trust that Allah’s plan is better.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“If you were to rely upon Allah with reliance due to Him, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds…”
(Sunan At-Tirmidhi, 2344)

Tawakkul strengthens your faith and helps you stay patient and content in life.

The Effects of Seeking Allah’s Pleasure

When you live a life seeking Allah’s pleasure, you’ll feel peace and happiness in your heart. You’ll also notice:

  • A stronger connection with Allah.
  • Increased blessings in your life.
  • Protection from harm and evil.
  • A deep sense of purpose and contentment.

Most importantly, Allah promises Jannah for those who strive to please Him:

“Allah has promised the believing men and women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence…”
(Surah At-Tawbah, 9:72)

Conclusion: Strive for Allah’s Pleasure Every Day

Dear children, seeking Allah’s pleasure is not just an act; it’s a way of life. From the moment you wake up to when you go to bed, remember that every action can bring you closer to Allah if done with sincerity and love.

Always ask yourself: Is this something that will make Allah happy? If yes, then do it with all your heart. If not, avoid it, no matter how tempting it may seem.

Let’s strive together to live a life that pleases Allah, so that one day, He will be pleased with us and grant us eternal happiness in Jannah.

May Allah guide us all to live in a way that earns His pleasure. Ameen!
