As-salamu alaykum, young friends!
Today, let’s explore one of the most important questions: Who is Allah? Allah is the Creator, the One who made everything we see and even things we don’t see. Understanding who Allah is helps us feel closer to Him, knowing that He loves and cares for us.
1. Allah – The Only God
Allah is the one and only God, and He has no partners, no family, and no equal. This belief is called Tawheed. Allah tells us in the Qur’an:
“Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” (Surah Al-Ikhlas, 112:1-4)
This means that Allah is unique and everlasting. Unlike us, He was never born, and He will never die. Allah’s existence is beyond anything we can imagine, which makes Him truly special and unlike any other being.
2. The Creator of Everything
Allah created everything in the universe, from the stars in the sky to the tiny ants on the ground. Every plant, animal, mountain, and ocean was made by Allah’s command. Imagine the sun, which shines every day, or the rain that helps plants grow—these are all blessings from Allah.
“Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs.” (Surah Az-Zumar, 39:62)
Knowing that Allah created everything helps us appreciate the world around us. Each time we see something beautiful, like a colorful butterfly or a clear night sky, we can remember Allah and thank Him for His creations.

3. Allah Knows Everything
Allah knows everything, even what we think and feel. He knows what happened in the past, what is happening now, and what will happen in the future. No one else can know everything like Allah does! This makes Him the best guide for our lives because He knows what’s best for us.
“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him.” (Surah Al-An’am, 6:59)
When we remember that Allah knows everything, we feel safe and protected. It reminds us that we can always turn to Him in prayer, and He will hear us, no matter where we are or what we need.
4. Allah is Merciful and Kind
Allah is filled with mercy and kindness. This means that He loves us and cares for us deeply. Even when we make mistakes, Allah is willing to forgive us if we ask Him sincerely. One of His beautiful names is Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful).
“And My Mercy encompasses all things.” (Surah Al-A’raf, 7:156)
Because Allah is so merciful, He gives us blessings every day—like our families, friends, and food. Thinking of Allah’s kindness helps us feel thankful and reminds us to be kind to others, too.
5. Allah Listens to Us
Allah is always there, ready to listen whenever we need to talk to Him. When we pray, we can ask Allah for anything—guidance, forgiveness, or help with our worries. He understands every word, even if we only say it in our hearts.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us that when we feel scared, alone, or sad, we should remember that Allah is with us.
“And when My servants ask you about Me, indeed I am near.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:186)
Knowing Allah is near and listening to us helps us feel less alone and stronger, especially in difficult times.
6. Allah Wants Us to Do Good
Allah loves it when we do good things, like being kind, helping others, and being honest. Every good action pleases Allah and brings us closer to Him. Allah created us to live a life that is filled with goodness and to spread kindness in the world.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“The best of people are those who bring the most benefit to others.” (Al-Mu’jam Al-Awsat)
By doing good deeds, we show our love for Allah and make the world a better place. Even small acts, like smiling or sharing, count as good deeds in the eyes of Allah.
7. How Can We Feel Close to Allah?
There are many ways to feel close to Allah in our daily lives:
- Prayer (Salah): Praying five times a day helps us remember Allah and feel connected to Him. Each prayer is like a conversation where we can express our thanks and ask for guidance.
- Saying Bismillah: Before starting any task, saying “Bismillah” reminds us that we’re doing it with Allah’s blessings.
- Reading the Qur’an: The Qur’an is Allah’s message to us. Reading it helps us understand His guidance and wisdom.
- Thanking Allah (Alhamdulillah): Saying “Alhamdulillah” shows gratitude to Allah for everything we have, even the little things.
8. Knowing Allah Through His Names
Allah has 99 beautiful names, each describing a part of His nature, like Al-Khaliq (The Creator), Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful), and Al-Hakeem (The Wise). Learning these names helps us know Allah better and reminds us of His greatness.
Each name brings us closer to Allah in a different way. For example, As-Salam (The Source of Peace) helps us remember that Allah brings peace into our hearts, and Al-Ghaffar (The Forgiving) reminds us that Allah forgives us when we make mistakes.

9. Loving and Trusting Allah
Just as we love our parents and friends, loving Allah should be at the center of our hearts. Allah is the one who gives us life, takes care of us, and has prepared a beautiful paradise for those who follow His guidance. Trusting Allah means that we believe He knows what’s best for us, even when things are hard.
“And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:3)
When we love and trust Allah, we feel stronger, happier, and at peace, knowing that He is always there to support us.
10. Remembering Allah Daily
We can remember Allah throughout the day by saying phrases like:
- SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah)
- Alhamdulillah (All praise is for Allah)
- Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest)
These phrases are simple but powerful, helping us feel close to Allah, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.
Conclusion:
Understanding who Allah is helps us live with love, gratitude, and purpose. Remembering that Allah is our Creator, the Most Merciful, and the One who listens to us every moment makes us feel close to Him. When we know Allah, we grow as stronger, kinder, and happier people, making the world a better place.
May Allah guide us all to grow closer to Him and fill our hearts with His love and wisdom. Ameen!
